had the yard fix the mast step and bulkhead
planning for the floor frame
Phoebe wondering how she is going to get up the ladder
cut and laid out the floor frame as a template in cardboard
Phoebe enjoying the sun in the makeshift workshop
cutting templates of frame pieces in cheap MDF
all the individual stringers ready
checking they fit together with assistance from the chief quality officer Phoebe
made sure they fit inside the boat :)
everything fits :)
used the MDF as templates to measure and cut the stringers in gaboon marine plywood - I have 6mm ply to use for a number of jobs but for the stringers wanted a thickness of at least 12mm so cut 2 and glued them together.
everything fits ....again :)
mixing up some epoxy to paint the stringers to avoid rot in the future
painting
painting painting painting
everything is dry time to put them in place and cut the bench pieces ready for fitting
with one of the bench sides cut i epoxied it in place using the remaining lip for the old bench to adhere to.
secured with clamps and wedges of wood
from the top
made a filet from putty ready for fibreglassing
mixing resin & hardner 100:30
my first attempt at fibreglassing went reasonably well
this is just the first coat but i layered 2 glass sheets all the way along the bottom, firmly securing the bench in place and ,making it watertight.
decided not to glass in all the stringers but want to do this central one so it is water tight and can be used for storage
